Embroidery has been a vital part of Autumn/Winter 2016 fashion trends, and what a delight it is!
It has increasingly featured in international collections- from silk coats to denim jeans to handbags, decorative detail is what everyone will want this season. Detailed embellishment elevates a simple piece to a precious statement that will never go out of style!
I enjoy taking risks and playing around with trends, and this oversized, kimono-like coat is no exception. I love the stitching and beading that decorates this piece, and despite the relaxed fit there is something extremely elegant about it.
Ive paired my embroidered coat with a simple ensemble of raw-edged denim jeans and a plain black bodysuit, keeping it feminine with dolly pink heels.
Next on my wish list is a pair of embroidered denim jeans from Topshop and a great denim jacket from New Look! Im loving this trend and I will certainly not be stopping with this coat! My advice is to experiment with it- even if you prefer simple styles try a denim jacket or a bomber with one/two motifs, it will automatically give your outfit a playful update!
Your going on holiday and you have the task of packing, first thing in the case- your summer kaftan. Carolyn Asome, summed up the kaftan perfectly in an article for Vogue online(July), describing it as a ‘democratic item’- it suits everyone, all shapes and sizes, which honestly is rare for a summer piece!
Not only is it brilliant for lounging at the pool, it takes you for lunch, into the town, possibly even for dinner, but what about wearing it in the city? Is it acceptable to wear your kaftan when your back at home, away from the beach and aperol spritz? Let me tell you- it is certainly acceptable now. Gone are the days of the kaftan being a seasonal piece stored away in the summer wardrobe, instead it is a piece that can easily take you into the cooler months.
Ive been obsessed with a Vita Kin
kaftan for months, but at £1,235 it was always going to be just a dream. As usual (and I know I do go on) Zara answered my prayers and brought in this niffy little version which I am absolutely loving! I will definitely be wearing this into the winter with a white polo under it and definitely my black suede thigh boots!
Every summer my longest friend and I take a day trip with our mothers down to Dublin. Its a day filled with shopping, eating and a lot of laughs. I really love Dublin as a city- it has such a cosmopolitan feel about it! As we all know when walking about a city shopping all day comfort really is key, so as always my superga’s are my ‘go to’ shoes for making sure that my feet don’t end up crippled!!
The dress I am wearing is new season ZARA and was such a great buy, i’m still loving the slip dress trend but I prefer this 1920’s style more so than the lacy lingerie style that has been featured quite a lot on the high street this summer! The dress can be easily dressed up also, with strappy heels and statement earrings.
Recent seasons have made wearing PJs during the day totally acceptable! By PJs obviously that does not mean that wearing a fluffy onesie and slippers to work is suddenly seen as an ‘it trend’! This louche trend can be risky but styled right is perfect for day and night, not to mention comfortable beyond belief.

Summer in Northern Ireland is more or less non-existent. Year after year we live in hope that we will have pure blue skies and warm sunny days- instead we usually experience overcast skies and mild damp days! Despite this we remain optimistic, and on the first appearance of sun we rush out to buy sandals, shorts and summer dresses, just to be prepared for all the great weather we might be graced with.
